The increase is $1 per pack or $10 per carton. Stock up early to avoid the tax. Or better yet, this is a good excuse to quit. If you can't quit, move to Missouri. Their state tobacco tax is 17¢ per pack, the lowest in the nation. Voters have repeatedly rejected increases in state tobacco taxes, even though the majority of Missouri voters don't smoke and would therefore never pay the tax. If you're a smoker, ya gotta love Missouri voters!
