Cigarette New York
Where is the cheapest place to buy liquor close to New York City?
I live in New York City but I am willing to drive to the surrounding states for cheaper prices. For example, I know New Hampshire has no alcohol tax. Are there other, closer places with smaller taxes? Any store recommendations?

Perhaps Delaware.
Almost every state in the US has a state-wide sales tax, except for Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, and New Mexico. Instead, some of these states have statewide gross receipts taxes, excise taxes, municipal sales taxes, or only tax large tourist destinations. There are also special sales taxes for specific products, such as gasoline, cigarettes, and alcohol.
Rhode Island
Rhode Island has a state sales tax of 7%. The rate was raised from 5% to 6% as a temporary measure in the 1970s, but has not since been lowered. Rhode Island raised its sales tax from 6% to 7% in the early 1990s to pay for the bailout of the state's failed credit unions. The change was initially proposed as a temporary measure, but was later made permanent. Other taxes may also apply, such as the state's 1% restaurant tax. Many items are exempt from the state sales tax, e.g., food (excluding single serve items), prescription drugs, clothing and footwear, newspapers, coffins, and original artwork.[116]
