Cigarette Ads 1960s

Smokers: When & why did you start?
Im asking this in the military section because most soldiers/marines/sailors are smokers.

If you have seen this question before please skip this. The point of asking is to get NEW answers. If you're not a smoker then answer these questions for a smoker you know. Pot doesn't count.

1 How old were you when you started smoking cigarettes?

2 If you were underage when you started how did you get them & how did you avoid trouble with the police?

3 Why did you start in the 1st place? What was your response to it being extremely unhealthy & a waste of money?

4 Do you regret starting?

5 Do you look down on me for not smoking? (Im an 18 year old Texan guy)

6 Is it a turn off when a guy or girl refuses to smoke?

I started as a teen because my mother smoked and bought smokes by the carton--easy access. At the time, I thought it was cool. Yes, I totally regret starting, and at the time there were no health warnings. Just the opposite: smoking was presented as fun, sexy and social. Guys who smoked were presented as rugged (Marlboro Man), and women who smoked were presented as sexy and liberated (Virginia Slims).
