Why do so many smokers seem to not consider cigarette butts to be litter?
I frequently see smokers flick cigarette butts out their car windows, and there are piles of butts on the ground where people take their smoking breaks at work. This bugs the heck out of me. What makes so many smokers so ignorant to this disgusting form of litter?

I'm a former smoker, who tossed them pretty much wherever I pleased. It's only since I've quit that I noticed what you're talking about. I don't think smokers do it consciously, but it sure does look that way, huh?
