Liquid Cigarette Smoke
How long does it take for cigarette smoke to come off your clothes?
How long would it take after smoking a cigarette for the smell to come off your clothes? And what are some tricks to get rid of the smell?
Please don't tell me not to smoke, I made the decision to start and I know exactly what I am doing to my body, it's none of your business to reprimand me and if your so revolted by my question than just don't answer it. Thanks.

Smoke gets in-bedded into fabrics and it doesn't just fade away, until it's cleaned away. Dry Cleaners have specific solvents to add to dry cleaned items that will remove lingering smoke residue.

Otherwise, it takes a total wash, with detergent, to remove smoke. Any garment that isn't a "natural" fiber, (natural = cotton, linen, silk, wool, leather, suede) will be difficult to remove smoke (or any odor) because natural fabrics will breath and un-natural fabrics and materials don't breath. Polyester, acetate, faux leather, fake suede, plastic, etc..will hold on to smoke & odors.

Unless you are holding the cig too closely, it really shouldn't be staining fingers THAT badly..unless you are chain smoking 3 packs per day or something. If so; there's no way to conceal or disguise cig odor on clothing, hair, backpack, furniture, upholstery, etc. It's just THERE until you take measures to reduce it, or have it chemically removed with professional cleaning solvents.

Premium cigarettes smell less offensively than the no-name brands. Cigarettes like American Spirit have less of the additives and chemicals and anything that claims to have pure tobacco leaves is less smelly. Some cheap cigarettes really smell worse than others.

If you're concerned about smelling badly and offending others than using chewing tobacco would be a means to and end for you.

Dry cleaners, carpet cleaners, upholstery cleaners can remove traces of smoke odors with specific solvents. Man-made, un-natural fabrics are extremely difficult to try to remove smoke odors from.

You may be indignant about your habit, and unwilling to give it up, but smoking LESS, and only in designated areas (like not in the house, or car) will help with stopping the odor from following you. People DO avoid the offensive smoke odor, and if you smell before you even light up, you'll have to have everything cleaned constantly...or hang out with people who smoke as much as you do.

The Tar & Nicotine on the fingers is exactly that. The yellow-brown, sticky stainage is removable with soap & hot water. After you smoke, wash you hands. Use hand sanitizer. Spray with Febreeze, or some liquid air freshener. Keep smoke from anything polyester or acetate..it won't come out. Don't smoke in cars or inside. No way to pre-treat clothes to make the smoke STAY AWAY, sorry.
